Robert Keefer joined PCM on June 1, 2013.  "Pastor Bob" received his BA degree from Dartmouth College on June 10, 1979, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.  His major course of study was Spanish Language and Literature.  He received his Master of Divinity on June 2, 1982 from Princeton Theological Seminary, and his PhD from Union Institute and University on July 31, 2006.  Bob enjoys singing, acting, and running as some of his main recreational activities.

Prayer for Amanda

Pastor Bob's Blog: On our New Marriage Standards

In 2009 the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples had a constitutional right to marriage in the State of Iowa. In April of that year, a column in the New York Times explained why that should not have surprised anyone. He was biracial; his mother was white and his father was black. In 1958 it was against the law for them to be married in Nebraska, so they were married in Iowa.

On May 5, the Presbytery of Missouri River Valley met; I had been invited to preach the sermon. It was the meeting at which we discussed and voted on the "marriage amendment" to our Directory for Worship (Look for a blog from me about that next week in "From the Pastors").
