The first half of the league is over and it's a tie. The Nortons (Bill & Brenda) and Beasons (Bob & Maurine) tied with 77 points each. Since no tie-breaker had been planned (or need forseen), both teams have agreed to a play-off to determine the first half winner.

Speaking of last week, there were a combined total of 82 points awarded to golfers from "Beat Your Average." Topping the list were Bob Benson and Brenda Norton each earning 7 bonus points.

We're making a change for this Wednesday. Originally we planned to have our Scramble tournament this week. Instead, we're having our "Fun Night" competition. We will determine a Fun Night winner and prizes awarded at the year-end banquet. See the attached league sheet for the Fun Night info. FYI, we're moving the Scramble tournament to the last night.

Finally, we want to share a change made to the handicapping method this year. Last year at the banquet, permission was given to re-vamp the handicap method for this season. In the pre-season letter sent out this year, we had indicated that we were continuing the rolling 3-week average. However, as the season started, we made the decision to switch to a different method. For your initial four rounds, your handicap was an average of the rounds. Beginning with round five and continuing through the end, your handicap is an average of all your rounds, except your highest and lowest scores are thrown out. This method is similar to one recommended by the USGA and many golf courses that offer a handicap tracking system.

Please let us know if you have any questions. See you on the course this week for Fun Night.
