April 18—Isaiah 53:5—Diana Sorenson
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed.”
Have you ever been wounded, crushed, and in need of a special healing touch of Shalom? Look back on your life and see the different circumstances and situations you have been in. Sometimes these stem from are our transgressions – our own making. Sometimes we are just there in the middle of our iniquities. Sometimes we are falsely accused – how unfair!! If you have ever been diagnosed with the “unthinkable” and felt that healing touch, you know what it is like to be “healed”- touched by the hand of God himself. Christ has been there, done that, and moved on to the cross! At the cross he was wounded, he was crushed, he was punished and falsely accused for our transgressions, our iniquities, so as to make us whole. The thorns on his head, the nails in his hands and feet, the spear in his side, the blasphemy by the accusing crowd, Jesus was broken and beaten both physically and mentally. All of this to make us whole!
Our diagnosis doesn’t have to remain, wounded, crushed, in need of healing. Through his death, suffering, and bruises – the price was paid - we are healed! Shalom!
