Deacons Congregational Care

December is a busy month for the Deacons:

December 5, 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall: Deacons are assisting the Evangelism/Outreach and CE committees to present PCM’s Advent event: Welcome to the Holly Days! Wear a funky sweater. Look for the article explaining the details, and plan to attend!

December 7, after second service in the Fellowship Hall: Deacons are hosting a special cookies and hot chocolate event to celebrate the Christmas program.  There will be an explosion of sweetness; be sure to join us.

December 9, at 6:30 in the Communication Center:  all the Deacons will share a soup supper to welcome newly elected Deacons to the Board of Deacons, and to thank those Deacons who are retiring for their service.

During December Deacons will be visiting the PCM members on the Care list.

Biscuits & Gravy on November 16 was a delicious experience!  Winnie Pinch’s biscuits were excellent, and those people with gluten intolerance were pleased to have biscuits that Maurine Beason made.  And, the gravies!  Ham & Pea, Seafood, Mushroom, Dirty Sausage, and Chocolate.  An explosion of taste.  Thank you to the Deacons for hosting, and to each of the workers.  About 110 were served!

Cookies!  Bars!   And More Cookies!  The Deacons are hosting Fellowship after the service on most Sundays.  Thank you to them for providing, serving, and cleaning up after these Sunday morning events.

Meal Mart: December 7  Are you tired of cooking?  Would you appreciate a home-cooked meal?  Do you have a friend or relative that would like a visit and a meal? Deacons have been sponsoring a MEAL MART once each month. The foods will be cooked, and ready to be taken home for your family, or for someone who you know who would appreciate the attention.  In the same spirit as the GARDEN MART, you are welcome to make a free-will donation to support the ministry.  Leftover meals are frozen at church, and are available for pick up during the month.  Plan on meals being available after worship on Sunday, December 7

Part of the work of the Board of Deacons is to care for and about the congregation.  Deacons spend a portion of their time touching base with their connected community at PCM, and with those who are sad, lonely, ill, or grieving.  If you know of a PCM member who would appreciate additional TLC, please contact the Deacons.

On Sunday morning do you hear the prayer requests, and make a note to send a card to a friend?  The PCM Card Ministry makes that easier!  Once a month creative souls gather at PCM to craft greeting cards and those cards are available to be purchased at cost on Sunday mornings.  The funds from those purchases will go towards supplies for more cards.  We are fortunate to have the expertise of Connie Duckert to teach and to coach; Connie has long-term experience in creating cards.

Thank you to the 2014 Board of Deacons:

Brittany Andersen, Maurine Beason, Bob Benson, Julie Binderup, Cliff Buckingham, Angela Burg, Debra Burg, Colleen Collins, Joan Edwards, Marge Finch, Mason Finch, Mike Forsythe, Diane Frans, Cathy Heitmann, Loren Ilg, Lynne Ilg, Mary McClean, Winnie Pinch, Laraine Roberts, Emily Struebing, Sandra Wolff.
