Mission Moments

The Mission and Hunger Partners for the month of July are Nebraska AIDS Project (NAP) and Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) Pantry.  The two organizations are closely linked because MCC ministers to many of the clients of NAP.

For over 27 years, NAP has provided supportive services and HIV prevention education to our community.   There are over 1600 people living with HIV in Nebraska with an estimated 600-800 more people who have it but do not know it.  Every 3 days someone in Nebraska is diagnosed HIV positive.  NAP strives to provide innovative and effective programs or services to meet the needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS, and its stigma through education, supportive services and advocacy.

(The next one will be held at PCM on August 9 in Fellowship Hall.)

PCM Book Club

PCM Women’s Book Club–July 20     The PCM Book Club will meet next Monday on July 20, 2015. We will have our annual POTLUCK DINNER and our ONE meeting time this month will be held at PCM in Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm. Bring your favorite potluck dish to share. After dinner out expert reviewer for the month, Joyce Davis, will review the book “The Mockingbird Next Door” by Marja Milla. This book is about the author Harper Lee, who wrote “To Kill a Mockingbird”, which is considered one of the best books ever written. This might be a great opportunity to reread the classic “To Kill a Mockingbird” and add that to our discussion too. This is one of our yearly opportunities to bring all club members together for a meal and a review. Hope to see you then!

Mission Moments

Mission Moments

Habitat for Humanity-Omahais the PCM Mission Partner for June.  PCM will be participating in building a house again this year as part of the Carpenters Crew Faith Coalition.  Our house location this year is at 4116 N. 21st St. in Omaha.   We also know the family who will be buying our house.  They are Nay Shaw and Sha Wah. They have four daughters and are excited to become homeowners.  They are a Karen refugee family from Myanmar (see photo).  This year’s build will start on August 15th.  The Carpenters Crew is going to organize this year’s build a little differently.  We are going to work mostly on Saturdays with a few Friday work days in the early build season.  During June at PCM, look for various opportunities to help with the build.  We will be asking for donations towards PCM’s financial pledge for the house.  We will be signing up workers to help on the various build days during the fall.  We will be recruiting food providers to help provide breakfast and lunch for the work crews on one or two of the build days.  And finally, we are asking for your continued prayers for the work crews, the new homeowners, and the Habitat organization.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Stewardship

You asked for it, so here it is!  At the Town Hall Meeting Stewardship was asked to periodically report to the congregation the status of Giving.  We are proud to report that at the end of April, Giving is at about 98.5% of projected income (about $1,645 short of projections).  So, giving is mostly on target year-to-date.
