Seeking Christ ... in our activities together.

Presbyterian Church of the Master doesn't just worship together ... We play together as often and as much as we can.  All are welcome to participate including friends, kids of all ages, members and guests alike.  We enjoy spending time with our fellow PCMites in a variety of activities and groups that include:

Galloping Gourmet

Galloping Gourmet is PCM's answer to dull, lifeless Friday nights. For each of the second Fridays in March-May and September-November, we will take the vus at 6 p.m. from the south church entrance and travel to a different surprise restaurant. Attendees enjoy each other's company and fine dining together. Then the gourmands return to dessert at the venue of our host's choice.

Garden Mart

The PCM Community Garden and Sunday Garden Mart is a very successful mission project and has been growing since 2006.

The goals of the garden are three-fold. First, we hope to encourage a love of gardening and environmentally friendly practices while affording anyone interested the opportunity to grow their own produce. Secondly, we aim to offer fresh and wholesome produce to the congregation and the public at a minimal cost by promoting a “donations only” weekly mart during the growing season. Finally, and most importantly, we use all money generated by the project to help local hunger-fighting organizations.

Our garden space has grown from the original twenty-four 10 ft X 10 ft plots to a total of sixty-three 10 ft X 10 ft plots in the main garden north of the sanctuary and ten 4 ft X 8 ft raised beds in the former Scout Garden. The general public is invited to garden with us, as well as church members. We ask (but do not require) a $10 per plot donation to help cover costs like hoses, compost and fencing. Any leftover money is included in our end of season hunger fighting donations.

Everyone grows whatever they wish, and we ask that they give any extra produce to our Sunday Garden Mart. There, we share the bounty in exchange for cash donations. Any produce left at the close of the weekly mart is donated to Crossroads Prison Ministry. The monies raised at the marts are directed to local hunger relief efforts, including our church’s yearly Thanksgiving Basket Project, the Food Bank, and numerous local pantries. Each year our contributions have been larger than the previous season, and in the five years’ span of the project, we have contributed more than $6,100 to hunger relief.

Golf League

b2ap3 medium First TeeDuring the late spring and summer, the PCM Golf League meets on Wednesdays to play the 9-hole, 3 par golf courses. Foursomes are organized for regular play and a substitute list of players is available for those times regular players are absent. A small fee is required for participation. The PCM Golf League is open to PCM members and non-members. Though this league is described as a “fun league” you will find some impressive talent and serious competition amongst the teams.   The golf league season culminates with a banquet, where the winner of the leagues receives trophies, but every individual also receives a donated gift, and a great meal.

Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women (PW) is an opportunity for adult women of the PCM congregation to share fellowship through Circle groups, activities and fund raisers.  The fellowship is priceless and offers a variety of ways for women to reach out in an inclusive and caring congregation.  Monies raised benefit PCM youth attending camps or Triennium as well as local and worldwide mission projects.

All women are automatically members of Presbyterian Women and we invite you to come join one of our Circles.  We have two Circles. One meets at 7:00 PM the first Thursday of each month - September through May - at the homes of members.  The afternoon Circle meets at 1:00 PM in the church on the second Thursday of the month.

Singles Group

The PCM singles group enjoys fellowship by frequently brunching together after second service. There are no regularly scheduled meeting times. The group decides where to go and what they want to do. Sometimes there is an offer for a football game get-together, or a game night for socializing and fun. We do not exclude married couples (or anyone else)!

Volleyball League

Each winter volleyball games are organized for anyone interested in this team sport. No particular level of expertise is required and everyone is welcome to sign up. Games have usually been scheduled on Saturday evenings. This is a co-ed league made up of PCM members and non-members.   Many PCM members’ husbands and wives as well as singles all enjoy a low-key game, but if you desire competition, you can find it there as well as some teams take the game a little more serious then others.

Wayferers

Wayfarers is a social opportunity for sharing meals and participating in various group activities for individuals age 50 and over. All are welcome to participate in the monthly meetings held the second Monday of each month, September through May. Meetings take place at Valentino's Restaurant located at 102nd and Maple Streets; 11:30 a.m. Devotions, speakers, and/or fun activities comprise the program each month.

Women's Book Club

The Presbyterian Woman (PW) Book Club meets the 3rd Monday of the month at the members' homes. We were first organized May 1979 with eleven people and six of the original members are still attending. The club has almost 40 members, but not everyone comes to every meeting.

We average abpout 20 people a meeting and have read some wonderful books with good discussions. It gets crowded at times but nobody seems to care. We have only canceled 2 meetings due to the weather - this hardy group is not intimidated by rain or snow.

In January we meet at Borders and pick the books we want to review for the year. In July we have a pot-luck and in December we have a book exchange with appetizers. If you enjoy reading we would love to have you join us. Come and see what we are all about.

All meetings are at 7:30. POTLUCK IN JULY IS AT 6:30! Guests and new members are welcome to any or all meetings. No notice is needed.

Young Adults Group

PCM’s Young Adult Group (YAG) is for 18-40 year olds interested in socialization and spiritual growth. We meet every other Monday and enjoy a hot meal, comfortable furniture and the intimacy of good friendships! Once a quarter we meet at church, a restaurant or other public venue, but as in the early Christian church, we meet mainly in the homes of our members.

This group was begun with the idea of having a place to socialize outside the bar atmosphere, so some nights are purely social. But we always have a study going on. We also participate in various mission activities at church and are actively working to mentor and support PCM’s college students.  We typically meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.  Check out the PCM Main Calendar for our current schedule.

Youth Group

Youth Ministry at PCM is about fellowship and good works. We like to have fun AND help others! We have fun whether we are working on mission projects, Bible study, watching movies or playing games.  The youth are responsible for Youth Sunday every year in the spring. We decide on a theme and a scripture and work very hard to provide a meaningful and youthful worship service including music, liturgy, and even a little preaching!

Youth are encouraged to participate in mission trips and mission activities, such as helping serve meals at the Open Door Mission, participating in Round Town Mission Events and providing a fundraising luncheon for the Souper Bowl of Caring project.
