Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. 40 Day Journey in Lent - April 6

April 6—Isaiah 52:7—Beverly Shelton “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion “Your God reigns.” I am from the mountains of North Carolina within the ranges of the Great Smokies and the Blue Ridge. When you would look to the horizon and see the clouds ring the mountain tops of the Great Smokies and the blue hue of the Blue Ridge you know God’s creations. When you climb to the mountain top and look all around you at the grand creation know He is risen, He is risen indeed. We are blessed to know the story and that “Your God reigns”. Prayer: Dear Creator of all things, bless us this day. Help us to be your messenger of the beauty of your peace, salvation, and that our God reigns. In God’s name, Amen.

40 Day Journey in Lent - April 3

April 3—I Samuel 1:17—Barb Dasenbrock “Then Eli answered. Go in peace; the God of Israel grant the petition you have made to him.” This Bible verse is talking about Hannah not being able to have a child and she pleads with the Lord to make it different. He grants the petition and she conceives . . . Having a son named Samuel. What a beautiful story of prayers and blessings from God. I wasn’t raised in a church in my youth. When I attended college, this was one thing I really wanted to do . . . Have a relationship with God and join a church. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband and five beautiful children. Who could ask for more?  Truly a gift from God!

40 Day Journey in Lent - April 2

April 2— Judges 18:6—Grant Ivey “The priest answered them, Go in peace. Your journey has the LORD's approval.” I also think that the priest is blessing and reassuring the mission workers that they’ll be fine. I think God might have a special interest in what they are doing. I think that it is making mission workers feel reassured. I think when the priest says that, the workers gain more confidence.

40 Day Journey in Lent - April 1

April 1—Psalm 34:14—Sean Tatschl   “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” He would be called ‘the witty one’ in the beginning, but as the easy and light time of that age began to fade and change into something darker and more serious, he would be called ‘weird,’ ‘out there’ and ‘strange’. Peace would not come to those who waited, but to those who worked and struggled for it. John knew this and made sure everyone else would as well. While people burned the flag and cried out for blood, he shook an extra hand, loved another person, cried one more tear for hope. Being an outcast from society could only strengthen John; make him more resolved to his cause. “If people clamored for peace as much as as they do for a new television,” he once said, “there would be peace.” John worked from the heart of love. He turned the other cheek when the stones were flying all around him. He died believing people were good and could find new paths to understanding some day. Just imagine what it could be like. Just imagine.
