Christians with International Experience are coming to us!

Christians with International Experience are coming to us!

The Session of Presbyterian Church of the Master invited the Sudanese Evangelical Friends Fellowship to come worship and hold classes here in our church building.  Beginning March 1, 2014, Pastor Lazarus John will be preaching and teaching here at PCM, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the70 members of his congregation.  Many of them speak Dinka or Nuer languages and their children speak English, so we celebrate the stories and cultural perspectives that they bring to us.  We often hear of Christians who are persecuted in other parts of the world, and God has now sent our brothers and sisters in faith, to us.  We will be looking for ways that we may offer hospitality and welcome to this family of faith.

Session Notes from December 2013

The Session scheduled a Longest Night worship service, for Saturday, December 21, 2013.The Session decided to make it a matter of policy that the building will be secured with a tiered key/lock scheme, so that when it is necessary to provide anyone with a key to the building, that key does not automatically grant access to every area of the building. The Worship, Sacrament and Music committee requested extra funding in order to cover the costs of unbudgeted expenses, such as repairing the organ speakers, and providing for costs of Dr. William McConnell, who led the Hymnal Festival in October. The Mission Committee, in coordination with the Deacons, asked for permission to raise funds and fruit to supply English as a Second Language (ESL) families with gas cards and fresh fruit as part of a December mission effort.  The Session supported this mission effort.Based on the results of the annual Stewardship Campaign, the Session was able to adopt a budget for 2014.The Session continues its comprehensive review of the standing policies of the Session (accumulated over the lifetime of PCM as a congregation), and recently adopted updated policies in the categories of General policies, Administration and Personnel, and Mission.  The work continues, anticipating the completion of the review, and adoption of a completed policy manual in 2014.The Lord’s Supper will be served on December 27, 2013, as part of the Youth Lock In, and the schedule for the service of the Lord’s Supper has been scheduled through January 11, 2015.The Annual Congregational Meeting has been scheduled for January 19, 2014, following the second worship service.Cindy Gilmore was appointed to the Administration and Personnel Committee, to the class of 2016, serving a full three-year term, beginning January 1, 2014.
