At the January Session meeting the Session adopted a policy regarding member contact information. Intending to make the Membership Directory accessible to PCM members, while at the same time intending to protect PCM members from unwanted marketing, the Session adopted a policy which states that the membership directory is not to be distributed to outside organizations, and that PCM does not allow outside organizations to use PCM's membership directory for marketing purposes.
Ruling Elder Marilyn Puett was appointed Recording Clerk for the Presbytery of Missouri River Valley. The Recording Clerk attends Stated Presbytery meetings, and assists the Stated Clerk (our own Rev. Robert Keefer) with the recording of the meeting minutes. Congratulations, Marilyn!
The Session of Presbyterian Church of the Master invited the Sudanese Evangelical Friends Fellowship to come worship and hold classes here in our church building. Beginning March 1, 2014, Pastor Lazarus John will be preaching and teaching here at PCM, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the70 members of his congregation. Many of them speak Dinka or Nuer languages and their children speak English, so we celebrate the stories and cultural perspectives that they bring to us. We often hear of Christians who are persecuted in other parts of the world, and God has now sent our brothers and sisters in faith, to us. We will be looking for ways that we may offer hospitality and welcome to this family of faith.
The Session has scheduled the Annual Congregational Meeting for 2014. The meeting will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014, following the second worship service.
At the October 27th Called Congregational Meeting, the congregation voted to make a change to PCM’s Bylaws. This change brings PCM’s Bylaws in line with the PC(USA) Book of Order, which provides for the Session to appoint its own Clerk for a term suitable to the Session.
At the October 27th Called Congregational Meeting, the congregation elected officers to the Board of Deacons and to the Session. Officers are elected to “Classes,” which is the last year of their term.
