With more and more people taking advantage of opportunities to pay bills other than by using traditional checks, PCM has investigated the possibility of offering an alternative way for members to make their offerings. After considering several options, we decided to try using Vanco Services’ EFT (electronic funds transfer) program because of its simplicity, low cost per transaction, no set up fee and the lack of a minimum monthly charge. If you would like to know more about Vanco Services, their website is vancoservices.com.

Besides the convenience to members of not having to write checks, PCM will benefit from a more steady cash flow (offerings will continue when people are out of town on business or vacation) as well as less time and effort to count, record and post the weekly offering. And since there will be fewer chances for error, the process will help ensure accuracy. Here’s how it works.

To sign up, all you need to do is complete an authorization form and turn it in to the church office with a voided check attached. You will have four options for frequency of donation: weekly, semi-monthly, monthly on the first or monthly on the 15th. We suggest a minimum offering of $10 per transaction to maintain the cost effectiveness of the program.

Once set up, the donations continue until you request a change in timing or amount. Of course you can discontinue the EFT whenever you wish but we think that once members try making offerings by EFT, they will have no desire to go back to writing checks. Please remember to submit a new authorization form if your banking information changes.

The system is up and running - the first offering by EFT was received October 1 - so you can sign up at anytime. We suggest you submit your authorization form at least a week ahead of the first donation date to allow time for processing. Authorization forms will be available in the communications room. If you have any questions, you can contact Robin Pruitt in the church office.
