New Orleans Mission Trip - Day 6 PDF Print E-mail
Well, it's been a long and productive Day 6 here in New Orleans East. Today, all of the groups worked long and hard to try to complete as much as possible before we leave on Saturday. We worked so hard I'm sitting all alone in the Olive Tree Village Dining Hall while everyone has headed to bed. Each of our homes are so much closer to being ready for the residents to move in, we can't help but get excited and feel great about the contributions we've made.

Tomorrow we'll be visiting each of the 4 homes that the Nebraska-North Carolina groups have been working on so I'll have more stories and pictures available tomorrow.

We had some of the residents from our homes visit us during dinner tonight. One of them was a pastor from a small church in the Lower Ninth Ward whose home and church were destroyed by the flooding. Thanks to the PDA and MDS he and his wife returned home just a few months ago and work is being planned to re-open the church next year. You can read about his story in the book "Overcoming Katrina" along with many other stories you may find interesting.

Okay, time for me to sleep too. Good night, Omaha.
